This is the turkey we made for Thanksgiving project. Do you always blow air into the balloon to expand it? In this experiment, we didn't! It was called Magic Balloon. You have to try it! We enjoyed so much that we repeated the experiment a few times. Yay! We were like little scientists!

For Veterans Day last Tuesday, we talked about the importance of honoring our soldiers and all the people in the military. They show us how much they love our country and the sacrifices they make to protect us. All of us agreed that it is nice to pray for them everyday for their safety. In Religion, we learned that God made us unique and different from others. God also made us special, and has given all of us wonderful talents. We love God each day we talk about Him!
Here are more pictures of us creating a turkey and a turtle. We had accomplished so much this week, and so we are so proud of ourselves! We just couldn't wait to finish our Fall Tree project! We know we have to expand our word bank, so here is an exciting thing we do to learn our words. Through painting! First, we write the words in pencil and we paint over them with our favorite colors. Daily 5 is really fun! This week, we learned our CVC short u word families. We are so proud to tell you that we perfected all of them! Here are our pictures practicing to decode the words. We switched the position of the letters and discussed if the words we made are real or nonsense words. It was hilarious sometimes! We are recognizing consonant blends, we know our consonant sounds, and we are reading our sight words faster. Look at us! We are really hard at work!
Do you know that there is a Catholic saint who was known to be in two locations at the same time? We do! We learned that this week! We also gathered that he was so specially caring for the poor and the hungry. From our reading, he was also so kind to the animals that they followed him everywhere he went, and the animals communicated with him. We really admire and adore him after reading his life story. He is Saint Martin de Porres. What an inspiration to all of us! We also learned and discussed about Saint Peter, Saint Patrick and Saint Katherine Drexel. Oh, how amazing they are! Here are pictures of us creating a picture of our favorite saint. And oh! Do you know that we can write a paragraph now? See! Writing, writing, writing. We love writing now! In Science, we read a story about a mother elephant and her baby elephant. Do you know what was so fascinating about it? We gathered that mother elephants are so protective of their babies. We also discussed about the traits of mammals. Here is Madi describing why an elephant is grouped as a mammal. Our letter for this week is letter Ss. We discussed how it looks like, the correct formation, the sound it makes, and we named many things that begin with it. Here are pictures of us making a snake as our project. Aren't they lovely? Do you want to know our secret in learning sight words the fun way? We will tell you. Look at our picture marching like soldiers and chanting our words! Here we are dressed up as our favorite saints. We have lots in store for us next week!
